Louisiana: Bill on consumer privacy introduced and read for the first time

Senate Bill No. 199 was introduced, on 10 April 2023, and thereafter read by title for the first time in the Senate. Subsequently, the bill was read, on the same date, for a second time and thereafter referred to the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and International Affairs. In particular, the bill provides for data controller and processor obligations for businesses in Louisiana or businesses producing a product or service that is targeted to consumers in Louisiana, and data subject rights.

You can read the bill here and track its progress here.
