Kentucky: Bill relating to consumer data privacy passed by Senate

On March 11, 2024, House Bill 15 for an act relating to consumer data privacy and making an appropriation therefor was read for the third time and passed by the Senate with two amendments. The bill was passed by the House of Representatives on February 20, 2024. The bill was amended to specify that:

  • the bill shall not apply to the processing of personal data by a person in the course of a purely personal or household activity; and
  • the subsequent Act may be cited as the Kentucky Consumer Data Protection Act.

In particular, the bill provides for data subject rights and highlights obligations for data controllers and processors.
