Jersey: JOIC publishes blog post on data protection compliance within small businesses

The Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner ('JOIC') published, on 18 August 2022, a blog post addressing key data protection considerations for new small business owners. In particular, the JOIC reiterated that businesses using personal data are considered data controllers under Data Protection (Jersey) Law, 2018. As such, the JOIC outlines a number of recommendations concerning basic data protection principles, training and awareness, data management, and data storage and access.
