Jersey: JOIC issues blog post on data protection and cybersecurity for organisations

The Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner ('JOIC') published, on 16 October 2022, a blog post on data protection and cybersecurity for organisations. In particular, the blog post summarises an interactive workshop, held earlier in October, which focused on the relationship between data protection and cybersecurity, with the aim of guiding and advising business owners with simple steps for keeping their business data safe. Furthermore, the blog post discusses, among other things, the following points:

  • patching systems regularly;
  • training;
  • implementing multi-factor authentication;
  • access;
  • controlling privileged access;
  • operating effective monitoring and alerting;
  • security;
  • managing attack surface;
  • policies and procedures; and
  • retention and destruction.
