Japan: PPC announces MoCs with ministries and agencies on cybersecurity

The Personal Information Protection Commission ('PPC') announced, on 17 March 2023, that it had signed Memorandums of Cooperation ('MoC') with the Cyber Security Center, the National Police Agency Cyber Police Bureau, and the Information-Technology Promotion Agency on Cybersecurity. In particular, the PPC noted that the MoCs aim to facilitate cooperation on cybersecurity incidents, including unauthorised access to personal data. Furthermore, the PPC explained that the MoCs also detail the roles and relationship between the ministries and agencies, namely how they should cooperate in the event of an incident and during peace times.

You can read the overview here and the MoCs here, both only available in Japanese.
