Machatt Co., Ltd. issued, on 18 May 2022, a notice in which it addressed a data breach potentially affecting the personal information of up to 16,093 customers. In particular, Machatt confirmed that it discovered that personal information of customers from the Machatt online store operated by its company may have been leaked due to unauthorised access by a third party. In this respect, Machatt noted that affected personal information included information such as cardholder name, credit card number, term of validity, and security codes. In regard to personal information other than credit card information, Machatt clarified that the unauthorised third party may have been able to access the database containing customer's personal information, however, they emphasise this has not been confirmed.

As a result of the incident, Machatt stated that it will strengthen the system security measures and monitoring system based on the investigation results to prevent recurrence. Furthermore, Machatt outlined that it reported the unauthorised access to the Personal Information Protection Commission on 27 April 2022 and the relevant police station on 21 April 2022.
