International: Privacy and Civil Liberties Board addresses role under Order implementing EU-US DPF
The Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board ('PCLOB') released, on 7 October 2022, a statement in response to the Executive Order on Enhancing Safeguards for United States Signals Intelligence Activities. In particular, the PCLOB noted that the Board Chair Sharon Bradford Franklin and Board Members Richard DiZinno, Ed Felten, Travis LeBlanc, and Beth A. Williams stated, "the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board plans to accept the advice and oversight roles envisioned for the agency in the President's Executive Order on Enhancing Safeguards for United States Signals Intelligence Activities. The Board appreciates that the new Executive Order reflects confidence in the PCLOB's ability to help ensure safeguards for cross-border data flows under a new Trans-Atlantic Data Privacy Framework."
