International: PDP and KVKK sign memorandum of cooperation for mutual assistance

On June 11, 2024, the Malaysia Department of Personal Data Protection (PDP) published a memorandum of cooperation signed together with the Turkey Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) for mutual assistance in the field of privacy and personal data protection.

What is the purpose of the memorandum?

The PDP and the KVKK endeavor to cooperate and exchange information to ensure compliance with and enforce their respective laws and regulatory requirements through the memorandum. Additionally, the PDP and the KVKK intend to contribute to a more enhanced protection of human rights and freedoms, particularly in the field of protection of privacy and personal data.

The scope of the memorandum includes:

  • exchange of information on relevant experiences;
  • exchange of expertise and results of research, studies, analysis, etc.;
  • cooperation for professional training; and
  • cooperation in drafting opinions or recommendations at international and regional levels.
