International: Guernsey and Gibraltar sign MoU on data protection co-operation

On June 2, 2023, the Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority (GRA). The MoU details its scope of application, the role and responsibilities of the parties, as well as information sharing and the method of exchange. Furthermore, the MoU provides that the scope of cooperation will include the following:

  • the sharing of information and best practices on data protection policies, as well as training and education programs;
  • cooperation in specific project areas including children's privacy; and
  • the exchange of information involving potential or ongoing investigations and inquiries.  

The MoU confirms that it will be monitored on a biennial basis.
