International: EEC announces Council's approval of cross-border information transfer

The Eurasian Economic Commission ('EEC') announced, on 9 August 2019, that the Intergovernmental Council ('the Council') had approved, among other things, the concept of cross-border information transfer for ensuring information interaction within businesses in the Eurasian Economic Union ('EAEU') as well as with authorised bodies of the EAEU member states. In particular, the EEC noted that this will create opportunities for interaction between businesses and government agencies using electronic digital signatures. In addition, the EEC stated that requirements for infrastructure operators providing such services, and other regulations, will be developed and approved by the EAEU by May 2020.
