International: CoE announces Cape Verde accession to Convention 108
The Council of Europe ('CoE') announced, on 19 June 2018, that Cape Verde had acceded to the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with Regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data ('Convention 108'), as well as its additional Protocol. Cape Verde's accession represents the fifth by a non-European state following Uruguay, Senegal, Mauritius and Tunisia, and takes the total number of states party to Convention 108 to 52. Additionally, Morocco, Mexico, Burkina Faso and Argentina have been invited to accede.
Convention 108 will enter into force in respect of Cape Verde on 1 October 2018.
