Hunan: Congress passes Social Credit Regulations

Credit China announced, on 26 May 2022, that the Standing Committee of the 13th Hunan Provincial People's Congress had passed the Hunan Province Social Credit Regulations. In particular, the regulations outline definitions of social credit, public credit, and non-public credit information, among others. In addition, the regulations stipulate that during the process of collecting, providing, disclosing, and applying social credit information, no unit or individual may carry out acts including fabricating, tampering with, or illegally deleting social credit information; disclosing social credit information involving state secrets, business secrets, and personal privacy; or illegally acquiring and selling of social credit information. Furthermore, the regulations provide requirements for the protection of the rights and interests of credit subjects, including credit subject rights, such as a right to know and correction.

The regulations will enter into effect on 1 September 2022.
