Hesse: HBDI concurs with Garante's concerns over ChatGPT

The Hessen data protection authority ('HBDI') issued, on 13 April 2023, a press release commenting on the Italian data protection authority's ('Garante') decision to temporarily ban ChatGPT. In particular, the HBDI, while agreeing with the concerns raised by the Garante, considered that it can decide whether to issue a formal order solely once it has obtained further information from OpenAI L.L.C., for example, on the data sources, the algorithms behind the automated data processing, and the disclosure to third parties with commercial interests.

You can read the press release, only available in German, here.
