Ghana: NCA launches consultation on revised unsolicited electronic communications code

The National Communications Authority ('NCA') launched, on 25 November 2016, a public consultation on an amended version of the Unsolicited Electronic Communications Code of Conduct ('the Revised Code'). The Revised Code will replace the original 2014 version and includes more extensive requirements relating to obtaining consent from recipients of electronic communications.

The NCA stated, 'The number of unsolicited electronic communications have risen steadily [...] and consumer frustration continues despite the measures put in place by the NCA. The NCA has [produced the Revised Code] to help address the situation and ensure that consumers are adequately protected.'

Stakeholders can submit comments on the Revised Code until 24 January 2016.
