Finland: Ombudsman announces TIETO22 will focus on preparing organisations for severe financial payment's disruption
The Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman ('the Ombudsman') announced, on 16 May 2022, that the TIETO22 exercise this year will focus on and practice preparedness for a severe financial payment's disruption. In particular, the Ombudsman noted that TIETO22 is the largest joint cybersecurity exercise between businesses and public authorities in Finland. In addition, the Ombudsman stated that preparing organisations for personal data breaches is an important part of cyber preparedness. Furthermore, the Ombudsman outlined that cyber disruptions can contain a risk of serious data breaches or leaks of personal data, noting that as part of organisations preparedness, they should ensure that practices such as system security, breach notification, and documentation are in place. Moreover, the Ombudsman highlighted that the TIETO22 exercise will bring together security-critical actors in society from the private and public sectors, noting that the exercise will contribute both to the organisations' own preparedness and cooperation with other sectors and authorities. Lastly, the Ombudsman stated that about 120 companies and authorities will participate in the exercise this year.
