DIFC: DIFC confirms UK equivalence process in final stages

The Dubai International Financial Centre ('DIFC') released, on 8 September 2022, a summary of its activities in the first half of 2022. In particular, the DIFC reported that, during the first half of 2022, it had enacted changes to its laws and regulations, including to the DIFC Data Protection Law, and that the law is now in the final stages of being evaluated for equivalence with the UK's privacy laws. Furthermore, the DIFC referred to the equivalence as providing a partnership to present practical solutions to complex issues involved with cross-border data sharing.
