Denmark: Datatilsynet launches guidance on GDPR for small associations
On June 19, 2024, the Danish data protection authority (Datatilysynet) announced that it had launched a new guidance on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) targeted towards small associations such as housing associations, voluntary associations, and non-profits.
The guidance provides advice and examples tailored to the challenges small associations experience, divided into seven steps that small associations can follow to ensure compliance with the GDPR.
The seven steps are:
creating an overview of where personal data is stored, whose personal data is handled, and what types of personal data are handled;
asking why personal data is being processed and identifying a legal basis;
remembering to delete personal data when it is no longer needed;
stating that personal data processing is being carried out;
making sure good procedures are in place;
remembering security; and
ensuring responsibility when sharing personal data.
You can read the press release here and the guidance here, both only available in Danish.
