Denmark: Datatilsynet issues order against Dating.dk for unlawful processing of personal data
The Danish data protection authority ('Datatilsynet') announced, on 4 October 2021, that it had issued expressed criticism that the dating service, Dating.dk ApS, had processed data in violation of Articles 6(1), 9(1), 32(1), and (2) of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) ('GDPR') and had ordered it to bring its personal data processing activities in line with the GDPR, by 16 November 2021. In particular, the Datatilsynet found that Dating.dk had not obtained valid consent to the processing of personal data, processed special categories of personal data without identifying an exception to the general prohibition on such processing, and had failed to take into account the risks the processing poses to data subjects' rights and freedoms.
