Czechia: NÚKIB releases supporting materials for protection against threat in form of quantum computers

On July 21, 2023, the National Office for Cyber and Information Security (NÚKIB) released supporting materials for protection against the threat in the form of quantum computers. In particular, the NÚKIB prepared the documents to address the rapid growth of quantum computers and the escalating threat they pose to current cryptographic standards in the field of cyber security, providing clarity on the nature of this threat and outlining essential measures to be taken in the future for prevention.

In essence, the NÚKIB released the following documents:

  • Quantum computer attacks can break current encryption: the solution is the timely and effective implementation of new standards, which is an overview of the threat, time frames, and defense principles;
  • Minimum requirements for cryptographic algorithms, which updates cryptographic standards and recommends quantum-resistant practices; and
  • Quantum threat and quantum-resistant cryptograpghy, which complements the second document on minimum requirements for cryptographic algorithms.

You can read the press release here, the documents here, here, and here, all only available in Czech.
