Czech Republic: UOOU requests comments on proposed methodology for camera systems
The Office for Personal Data Protection ('UOOU') launched, on 28 April 2023, a public consultation on the proposed methodology for designing and operating camera systems from the perspective of processing and protecting personal data. In particular, the UOOU noted that the aim of the proposed methodology is to provide better guidance to controllers and processors of personal data, as well as camera system suppliers, in their obligations relating to the design, installation, and operation of camera systems.
Moreover, the UOOU highlighted that the main purpose of the proposed methodology is to ensure clarity, repeatability, and total compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) ('GDPR') and the European Data Protection Board's ('EDPB') Guidelines 3/2019 on Processing of Personal Data Through Video Devices. Furthermore, the UOOU emphasised that the proposed methodology concerns camera systems (including camera traps) with recording capabilities, as well as camera systems in online mode, which process personal data.
Public comments can be submitted via email to [email protected] until 9 June 2023.
