California: Secretary of State announces eligibility of CPRA for November 2020 ballot
The Secretary of State of California, Alex Padilla, announced on 24 June 2020, that Alastair Mactaggart, proponent of the initiative for the California Privacy Rights Act ('CPRA'), which seeks to amend the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 ('CCPA') had filed more than 623,212 valid signatures with California counties, and, therefore, the initiative measure is eligible for the 3 November 2020 general election ballot. Furthermore, Padilla is expected, on 25 June 2020, to certify the initiative for the November 2020 ballot, unless withdrawn by Mactaggart prior to certification.
