California: CPPA releases draft proposed CCPA regulations and announces meeting

The California Privacy Protection Agency ('CPPA') announced, on 27 May 2022, that it will hold a board meeting on 8 June 2022 in which it will discuss, among other things, its draft proposed regulations under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 ('CCPA'). In particular, the meeting agenda details that the CPPA will discuss and take possible action on the Proposed CCPA Regulations under Sections 7000 to 7304 Title 11, Division 6 of the California Code of Regulations to implement, interpret, and make specific the CCPA, including possible notice of proposed action.

More specifically, the proposed regulations suggest additions and the removal of certain definitions, additions regarding restrictions on the collection and use of personal information, additions regarding disclosure requirements and methods for submitting CCPA requests and obtaining consent, as well as certain removals and amendments to privacy policy provisions, among several other suggested changes.
