California: Bill relating to health information sent to Governor for action

On September 21, 2023, Assembly Bill 352 on Health information was enrolled and sent to the California Governor for action. The bill outlines requirements for relevant entities which include providers of healthcare or pharmaceutical companies, or contractors who create, maintain, preserve, store, abandon, destroy, or dispose of medical information. In addition, the bill seeks to provide patients with a right to access or receive a copy of their electronic medical records upon request which must be consistent with applicable state and federal laws governing the same.
