Brazil: Senator promulgates act on 60-day extension of provisional measure postponing LGPD

The President of the National Congress of Brazil, Senator Davi Alcolumbre, promulgated on 26 June 2020, Act No. 71/2020 ('the Act') which extends Provisional Measure No. 959 of 29 April 2020 for 60 days. In particular, the Provisional Measure, which was promulgated by the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, delays Law No. 13.709 of 14 August 2018, General Personal Data Protection Law (as amended by Law No. 13.853 of 8 July 2019) ('LGPD') to 3 May 2021 and must be approved by Congress within 120 days of its enactment or it will become void.
