Brazil: Senate approves ANPD board of directors

The Federal Senate of Brazil announced, on 20 October 2020, that it had approved the board of directors of the Brazilian data protection authority ('ANPD') following the nomination by the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro. In particular, the Senate confirmed that the terms of the directors will vary from two to six years and that the rest of the ANPD's members will have to be appointed in the near future in order to commence its operations and tasks, as provided Law No. 13.709 of 14 August 2018, General Personal Data Protection Law (as amended by Law No. 13.853 of 8 July 2019) ('LGPD').
