Brazil: Senate announces Commission for draft regulatory framework on AI
The Senate announced, on 30 March 2022, the creation of a Commission of Jurists that is tasked with drafting a new regulation on artificial intelligence ('AI'), and which be based on bills No. 2020/21, No. 5051/2019, and No. 872/2021. In particular, Senate noted that the rapporteur of this Commission will lead a study into existing experiences such as within the EU to act as a source of inspiration for the application of the same concepts within Brazil.
In addition, the Senate also detailed that the Commission will address topics such as:
- economic-social contexts and benefits of AI;
- sustainable development and well-being;
- innovation;
- AI research and development;
- public security;
- agriculture;
- industry;
- digital services;
- information technology; and
- healthcare robots.
