Brazil: ANPD announces study on data protection practices with pharmaceutical sector 

The Brazilian data protection authority ('ANPD') announced, on 8 September 2021, that it had begun a study on personal data protection best practices within the pharmaceutical sector. In particular, the study is being conducted by the General Coordination of Technology and Research, and is intended to encourage associations to promote good practices in the sector regarding compliance with Law No. 13.709 of 14 August 2018, General Personal Data Protection Law (as amended by Law No. 13.853 of 8 July 2019) ('LGPD'). According to the ANPD, the study also aims to promote the updating of privacy policies and notices, as well as to improve the dialogue and transparency of these associations with the data subjects.
