The Agency for Personal Data Protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina ('AZLP') published, on 9 September 2022, its term plan for the period 2023 to 2025. In particular, the AZLP noted that the goal of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 49/06 ('PDPL') is to provide all persons, regardless of their citizenship or residence, with the safe protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and especially the right to privacy with regard to the processing of personal data relating to them, in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In order to fulfil the planned tasks, the AZLP highlighted that it will undertake activities between 2023 to 2025 within the scope of competences and authorisations established by law through the following medium-term and specific goals and programs:

  • medium term goal: improvement of the right to privacy in terms of personal data protection;
  • specific goal: ensure the effective application of regulations on the protection of personal data, harmonise domestic regulations with international ones, and raise the level of public awareness regarding the right to the protection of personal data; and
