Belgium: House of Representatives adopts whistleblowing law for private sector

The House of Representatives adopted, on 28 November 2022, Bill 55K2912 on the protection of persons who report violations of Union law or national law found within a legal entity in the private sector, which partially transposes the Directive on the Protection of Persons who Report Breaches of Union Law (Directive (EU) 2019/1937) ('the Whistleblowing Directive'), following its approval by the Belgian Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Consumer Protection and Digital Agenda.

The whistleblowing law will enter into force two months after the day of its publication in the Official Gazette, namely 15 February 2023.

You can read the whistleblowing law, only available in French and Dutch, here.
