Beijing: Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology releases draft Social Credit Regulations

The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology announced, on the 24 February 2021, that it had released draft Beijing Social Credit Regulations and requested public comments on the same. In particular, the draft regulation establishes a number of rights for credit subjects such as a right to know, inquire, object, and eliminate information, among other things. In addition, the draft regulation outlines requirements for credit service institutions, including obtaining consent and clearly informing credit subjects of the content, method, and purpose of collected non-public credit information, as well as ensuring that information processing is objective, fair, and prudent.

Public comments can be submitted via email at [email protected] until 25 March 2021.
