Bavaria: BayLfD issues statement on interplay between data protection and general supervision of municipalities
The Bavarian data protection authority ('BayLfD') issued, on 1 February 2023, a statement addressing the interplay between its data protection supervision and the general legal and technical supervision of Bavarian municipalities, as it is carried out by the competent district office or governmental entities. In particular, the BayLfD pointed out that both forms of supervision aim to ensure that the supervised bodies are monitored with regard to the legality of their actions in a relationship of mutual effectiveness.
