Barbados: Minister issues statement on trusted smart products

The Minister of Small Business, Entrepreneurship and Commerce ('the Minister'), Dwight Sutherland, issued, on 15 March 2019, a statement on trusted smart products. In particular, the Minister encouraged businesses and service providers to ensure that consumers are provided with fair and simple contract terms and relevant information pertaining to the use and features of the smart products. In addition, the Minister highlighted that the Government would be enacting data protection legislation within the next few months, in order to facilitate business, enable efficiency and competitiveness, and safeguard the privacy of individuals and businesses.
