Bahrain: MoJ exercises DPA duties

OneTrust DataGuidance confirmed, on 7 October 2019, with Hassan AlKoofi, Associate at Hassan Radhi & Associates, that the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs ('MoJ') will exercise the role of Data Protection Authority ('DPA'). 

In particular, AlKoofi highlighted that, "As per Resolution No. 78 of 2019 published in the Official Gazette, on 3 October 2019, the [MoJ] shall exercise the duties of the [DPA] until the [DPA's] budget is approved and included in the state's budget." In addition, AlKoofi outlined that, "[H]is excellency the Minister of Justice and Islamic Affairs is entrusted with the powers and duties of the [DPA's] board of trustees and chairman."
