Algeria: NATP launches cybersecurity awareness campaign on phishing attacks

The National Agency for Development of Technology Parks ('NATP') announced, on 2 April 2020, that it had launched a cybersecurity awareness campaign ('the Campaign') focusing on phishing attacks in light of the COVID-19 ('Coronavirus') epidemic. In particular, the NATP stated that the media coverage of Coronavirus has created an increased risk of computer and phishing attacks. The Campaign explains what constitutes phishing, the most common types of misleading messages relating to Coronavirus, as well as the ways to avoid being the victim of a phishing attempt. In addition, the Campaign notes the indications that point towards phishing, including the design of webpages, and the sense of urgency. Moreover, the Campaign outlines a list of good practices of cybersecurity, such as ensuring the security of the WiFi networks, locking computer screens, and being wary of emails from unknown senders.

You can read the press release here and the Campaign here, both only available in French.
