Albania: Ministry of Justice launches public consultation for draft law on the right to information

The Ministry of Justice of Albania announced, on 19 October 2022, the launch of public consultations on the draft law 'On some additions and changes to law no. 119, dated 14.09.2014, on the right to information'. In particular, according to the Ministry of Justice's press release, the draft law aims to address the legal vacuum that can arise from the latest national draft legislation in the field of personal data protection. Lastly, the Ministry of Justice specified that the draft law is intended to provide solutions for fostering a more responsible behaviour of public administrations in terms of increased transparency, to the end of reducing corruption and increasing public trust in the public administration.

Comments on the draft can be submitted by 15 November 2022.
