Albania: IDP introduces 2021 annual report
The Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner ('IDP') announced, on 13 April 2022, that the Commissioner, Mr. Besnik Dervishi, introduced the 2021 annual report to the Commission for Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Human Rights of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania. In particular, the annual report highlights that, in 2021, a total of 992 complaints were filed, and that 44 complaints were carried over from 2020. In addition, the annual report outlines that for the filed complaints, the IDP finalised 41 decisions, 36 requesting the affected parties to provide information, one rejection, two non-acceptance, and two administrative sanctions, for which the main reasons were the ambiguity on the part of public authorities regarding the concept of confidentiality in public contracts.
