Alabama: AG announces introduction of data breach notification bills

The Attorney General ('AG') of Alabama, Steve Marshall, announced, on 14 February 2018, that Senator Arthur Orr and Representative Phil Williams had introduced bills seeking to enact the Alabama Data Breach Notification Act in the Alabama Senate ('the Senate Bill') and Alabama House of Representatives ('the House Bill') respectively. The AG welcomed the introduction of the bills, which would require that businesses and governmental entities notify consumers when their sensitive personal information has been or is believed to have been acquired through a data breach.
