Zimbabwe: Cybersecurity and data protection bill published with Government Gazette
The Cybersecurity and Data Protection Bill (H.B. 18, 2019) ('the Bill') was published, on 15 May 2020, with the Government Gazette. In particular, the Bill, among other things, introduces general rules on the processing of personal data and outlines the duties of data controllers and processors.

Bill is not yet in force
OneTrust DataGuidance confirmed, on 19 May 2020, with Kuda Hove, Policy Officer at Privacy International, that the Bill is not yet in force. Hove commented, "The Bill still has to be debated in the National Assembly [and] after that it will be sent to the President to be signed into law. Then it will be gazetted as an Act with an effective date."
