Virginia: House bill to amend CDPA definition of nonprofit organisation introduced

House Bill ('HB') 552 for a bill to amend the Consumer Data Protection Act ('CDPA') with respect to the definition of nonprofit organisations was introduced, on 11 January 2022, to the General Assembly. In particular, the bill would amend the definition of nonprofit organisation to include certain nonprofit organisations that are exempt from taxation under §501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code.

A companion bill, Senate Bill ('SB') 516, has also been introduced, on 12 January 2022, with the same purpose.
