USA: Total Health Care notifies OCR of data security incident affecting 221,454 individuals

Total Health Care Inc. notified, on 5 April 2021, the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Civil Rights ('OCR') of a data security incident involving 221,454 individuals. In particular, Total Health Care noted that the incident involved unauthorised access to several employee email accounts between 16 December 2020 and 5 February 2021. In addition, Total Health Care highlighted that, after conducting an extensive forensic investigation, it had found no evidence that information was viewed or misused. Moreover, Total Health Care outlined that the information involved may have included social security numbers and/or member IDs, claims information, names, dates of birth, and addresses.
