USA: HSCC releases cybersecurity guidance for health sector
The Healthcare and Public Health Sector Coordinating Council ('HSCC') announced, on 14 May 2020, that it had released its cybersecurity guidance, the Health Industry Cybersecurity Protection of Innovation Capital ('the Guidance'), and is requesting comments on the same. In particular, the Guidance provides recommendations and best practices for health sector organisations to protect trade secrets, medical research, and other innovation capital from cyber threats. Furthermore, the Guidance outlines different innovation capital protection measures and details five case studies of breaches of innovations capital from an EU, US, and international perspective. Moreover, the Guidance highlights measures such information asset governance, workforce agreements, and physical security measures, as well as information asset management and risk classification, identity controls, and data controls, as important tools in the protection of innovation capital.
