USA: HireVue revises use of facial recognition following EPIC complaint submission to FTC

The Electronic Privacy Information Center ('EPIC') announced, on 12 January 2021, that HireVue, Inc. had revised its use of artificial intelligence for facial recognition analysis of job candidates, following EPIC's 2019 submission of a complaint on the same to the Federal Trade Commission ('FTC'). In particular, EPIC highlighted that although HireVue had acknowledged the concern over its use of facial analysis, it will continue to analyse biometric data from job applicants including speech, intonation, and behaviour.
