UK: ICO responds to IDTA, Addendum, and transitional provisions being laid before Parliament
The Information Commissioner's Office ('ICO') published, on 2 February 2022, its statement in response to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport ('DCMS') laying, on the same date, the International Data Transfer Agreement ('IDTA'), the International Data Transfer Addendum to the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses ('SCCs'), and a document setting out transitional provisions as to the use of the current SCCs for international data transfers before Parliament. In particular, the ICO welcomed the DCMS's decision and highlighted that it is continuing to develop additional tools and guidance to support organisations in related matters. Furthermore, the ICO noted that the IDTA, Addendum, and transitional provisions will now lay before Parliament until they come into force on 21 March 2022.
