UK: ICO responds to Age Appropriate Design Code being laid before Parliament
The Information Commissioner's Office ('ICO') responded, on 11 June 2020, to the Government laying the Age Appropriate Design Code ('the Code') before Parliament. In particular, the ICO highlighted that the Code works towards protecting children online and that the Code sets out 15 standards which relevant online services should meet in order to protect children's privacy. In addition, the ICO noted that the Code is the result of wide-ranging consultation and engagement with stakeholders including the tech industry, campaigners, trade bodies, and organisations.
