UK: ICO Executive Director calls for comments on development of AI auditing framework
The Executive Director for Technology Policy and Innovation of the Information Commissioner's Office ('ICO'), Simon McDougall, announced in a blog post, on 18 March 2019, the ICO's call for comments from organisations on the development of an auditing framework for artificial intelligence ('AI') ('the Framework'). In particular, McDougall explained that the ICO plans to develop the Framework to provide a methodology to audit AI applications and guarantee their transparency and fairness, as well as to ensure that the necessary measures to assess and manage data protection risks are put in place.
