Turkey: National Assembly proposes amendments to Personal Data Protection Law

On February 16, 2024, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey introduced a proposed law aimed at amending the Personal Data Protection Law (the Law), signaling a commitment to modernize data protection regulations in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The amendments focus on updating the Law to meet the objectives outlined in various action plans, including the Human Rights Action Plan and the Economic Reforms Action Plan. In this context, the proposed amendments primarily address the processing conditions for special categories of personal data and provisions related to the transfer of data abroad.

You can read the proposed amendment, only available in Turkish, here.
