Thailand: NSTDA publishes ethical guidelines for artificial intelligence

On March 22, 2022, the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) announced the approval of ethical guidelines for artificial intelligence (AI). The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that AI technologies and data science, including AI-driven algorithms, are developed and used in an ethical manner. The NSTDA emphasized that these guidelines were established to align with their AI ethics policy.

These guidelines have been designed to cover all aspects of AI, including research, design, development, application, and sharing of AI technologies. The guidelines are grounded in global AI ethics principles and take into account societal and legal considerations. The primary goal is to prevent and mitigate potential negative impacts that AI systems might have on society.

In addition, the guidelines are organized into different levels of enforcement in order to balance the need for rapid AI development with safety concerns.
