South Korea: PIPC releases guidance on the combination and transfer of pseudonymous information

The Personal Information Protection Commission ('PIPC') released, on 21 October 2021, its revised guidance on the combination of pseudonymised information with a specialised binding agency and its exportation. In particular, the PIPC clarified that the revised guidance focuses on the combination and export notice that is required by organisations for the use and transfer of personal data that is pseudonymised, including explanations on the combination and extraction process for personal data. Furthermore, the guidance sets out the application requirements for the combination of pseudonymisation of personal data and a management plan relating to the use of such data.
