South Korea: PIPC announces three year strategy for personal information protection

The Personal Information Protection Commission ('PIPC') announced, on 24 November 2020, its strategy roadmap for the protection of personal information for the next three years. In particular, the PIPC clarified that it will focus on several initiatives, including improving self-regulation of data protection, develop standards for Data Protection Impact Assessments, support the implementation of requirements for the pseudonymisation of information, and promote the development of regulations for new technologies and privacy, such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and self-driving vehicles.
