South Africa: Regulator extends deadline for submission of annual reports

The Information Regulator announced, on June 30, 2023, that it had extended the deadline for the submission of an annual report for the 2022-23 financial year in line with the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA). The Regulator clarified that although the PAIA provides that the head of a private body may submit its annual report to the Regulator upon request, the heads of private bodies are encouraged to submit their annual report because this is good practice, it encourages transparency, and enables the Regulator to assess how members of the public are exercising their constitutional right of access to information and also to report to the South African Parliament.

The deadline has been extended until July 7, 2023.
